How to apply Reasonable Adjustments to Aptitude Tests

Shortlister allows reasonable adjustments (RAs) to be applied to aptitude tests in the same way they are applied to video interviews. This ensures candidates who require additional time are supported consistently across all assessment types.

Applying reasonable adjustments manually

Reasonable adjustments can be applied before a candidate has started their assessment.

  1. Navigate to the application for the candidate.

  2. Ensure the application status is not yet responded.

  3. Open the Details section of the application.

  4. Tick the Reasonable Adjustments option.

  5. Save your changes.

Once applied, the candidate will automatically receive additional time when completing their aptitude test.

Important: Reasonable adjustments must be applied before the candidate begins their assessment. Adjustments cannot be applied once the assessment has been started or completed.


How reasonable adjustments are displayed

  • Applications with a reasonable adjustment applied will display a clock icon, in the same way as video interviews.

  • This icon is visible on the application record, making it easy to identify which candidates have received additional time.


Approving a candidate-requested reasonable adjustment

Candidates may also request reasonable adjustments directly from the welcome lobby before starting their assessment.

If a candidate submits a request:

  1. Navigate to the application.

  2. Open the Actions tab.

  3. Review the reasonable adjustment request.

  4. Choose to Approve or Deny the request.

This approval flow is identical to the process used for video interviews.


Adjustment amount applied

  • All reasonable adjustments apply a standard 25% additional time to aptitude tests.

  • This aligns with common assessment industry practice and ensures consistency across Shortlister assessments.
