My camera does not connect on my PC

If you are using Google Chrome or Firefox, Shortlister.com may require permission to access your camera in your web browser. Follow these steps to ensure Shortlister.com has access to your camera.

 

Chrome

  1. Right-click on the padlock icon in the far left of your address bar.

  2. Click into the ‘Permissions’ tab.

  3. Ensure ‘Camera’ and ‘Microphone’ are set to ‘Allow’

 

Firefox

  1. Left-click on the padlock or ‘!’ icon on the left of the search bar. Click 'More Information.

  2. Click into the ‘Permissions’ tab.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and ensure ‘Use the Camera’ and ‘Use the Microphone’ - set these both to ‘Allow’. You may have to uncheck the 'Use Default' boxes to do this.

 

 

If your browser permissions are set correctly, the next thing to check is that there are no other programs (e.g. Skype) or internet browser windows (e.g. practice video interviews) open which may already be using your webcam.

If no other program or web browser is using your webcam and the camera still does not connect, we recommend you try an alternative internet browser.
