To complete your identity verification, you must upload a valid, government-issued photo ID. Shortlister uses Yoti to securely verify your document, following their global identity standards.
1. Primary Accepted ID Documents (Most Recommended)
These documents are the fastest and most reliable for verification:
Passports
✔ Any valid passport from any country
✔ Must be in date
✔ Photo page must be clear and not damaged
National Identity Cards
✔ Government-issued national ID cards (with photo)
✔ Must be in date
✔ Both front and back must be uploaded where applicable
Driving Licences
✔ Full or provisional licences
✔ Accepted from most countries (as supported by Yoti)
✔ Both front and back required
✔ Must include a clear photo
2. Other Accepted Documents (Depending on Country)
Some countries issue additional government ID that Yoti accepts:
Residence Permits / Biometric Immigration Cards
✔ Must display your photo
✔ Must be in date
✔ Both sides required
State-issued Photo ID Cards
✔ Such as regional or state identity cards
✔ Must be official and government-issued
(Note: These may not be available or valid in all countries. If Yoti cannot verify the document, you will be prompted to try another ID type.)
3. Expired or Unsupported ID
The following cannot be used:
✘ Expired passports, identity cards, or driving licences
✘ Student cards, campus IDs, or library cards
✘ Employee/work badges
✘ Birth certificates (no photo)
✘ Bank cards or utility bills
✘ Screenshots or photocopies of any ID
✘ Damaged documents where text or photo is unclear
If your document is worn, cracked, blurred, or partially obscured, Yoti will not be able to verify it.
4. Tips for a Successful ID Upload
Follow these guidelines to avoid delays:
- Use your original physical document (no scans or photocopies)
- Ensure the whole document is visible in the photo
- Take the photo in a bright, well-lit area
- Avoid glare, reflections, or shadows
- Make sure your photo, name, and date of birth are clearly visible
- If the document has two sides, you'll be asked to upload both
If your camera struggles to focus, try placing the ID on a plain surface (white background works best).
5. What to Do If You Don't Have Any Accepted ID
If you cannot provide any of the accepted documents above:
- Check if you have an alternative valid document (passport, driving licence, residency card, etc.)
- Contact your admissions or recruitment team using the support email in your invitation — they can advise on next steps or alternative routes.
Shortlister cannot override Yoti’s verification rules, so you must provide an accepted form of government ID to continue.
6. Is My Data Safe?
Yes. Your ID is processed securely by Yoti, a government-certified digital identity provider used by banks, universities, and public bodies worldwide.
- Documents are encrypted
- Data is never shared without your permission
- Information is only used for identity verification
