My camera does not connect on my PC

Step 1

If you’re using Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari, you may need to reset your Flash permissions. To do so, follow the instructions below.

  1. Click Here

  2. Click 'Delete All Sites' and then 'Confirm'

  3. Refresh your browser and follow the interview link in your invitation email again.

  4. When you reach the recording test, when prompted click 'Allow' and 'Remember' and finally 'Close' in the popup in the recording window (pictured below).

  5. You might also be prompted by your internet browser. Click 'Allow' - this will be displayed either at the top or the centre of your screen. Your interview should now launch.

Step 2

If you are using Google Chrome or Firefox, may require permission to access your camera in your web browser. Follow these steps to ensure has access to your camera.

  1. Right click on the padlock icon in the far left of your address bar.

  2. Click in to the ‘Permissions’ tab.

  3. Ensure ‘Camera’ and ‘Microphone’ are set to ‘Allowed by you’

  1. Left click on the padlock or ‘!’ icon on the left of the search bar. Click 'More Information'.

  2. Click in to the ‘Permissions’ tab.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and ensure ‘Use the Camera’ and ‘Use the Microphone’ - set these both to ‘Allow’. You may have to un-check the 'Use Default' boxes to do this.

Step 2

If both flash and browser permissions are set correctly, the next thing to check is that there are no other programs (e.g. Skype) or internet browser windows (e.g. practice video interviews) open which may already be using your webcam.

Step 3

If both flash and browser permissions are set correctly and no other program or web browser is using your webcam and the camera still does not connect, we recommend you try an alternative internet browser.
